Patanjali's claim

Yoga guru Ramdev's herbal medicine company Patanjali Ayurved on Tuesday 23rd June, 2020 claimed that they have discovered medicine for COVID-19. The company claimed that two Ayurved-based medicines have shown 100 per cent favourable results during clinical trial on COVID -19 infected patients, excluding COVID patients who have been on life support system. However, as per news polished in your daily on 24th June, 2020 the Centre has asked the company to stop advertising or publicizing its claims till the same is examined by the competent authority.

It is really surprising that a company owned and run by famous personalities like Yoga guru Ramdev and Subedi Balkrisna could claim that curative medicine for COVID-19 has been discovered without having the formal approval from the competent authority of Government of India. One thing is very clear that the recovery rate in India is higher than the world average as such it may not be assumed that the recovery of the patients who are not very critical is due to the medicine as claimed. However, Ayurveda has products which can improve our immune system and if the claim of Patanjali materializes and gets the approval from the Centre it will be a blessing to the world.
