Problem of non-COVID patients

It has been alleged that about six non-COVID patients died in Jorhat Medical College & Hospital in last few days due to negligence of the Hospital authority. The family sources have complained that the patients did not receive any medical assistance in the Hospital.

The Congress party and the AJYSP have staged protest demonstration against the action of the hospital authority.

Due to the pandemic situation it has become extremely difficult to get an appointment of doctors for consultation even in emergency case, and the attendants of the patients have to run from one nursing home to the other as these nursing homes are very reluctant to admit patients, even if they are non-COVID ones. So, the last hope of the attendants is to take the patient to a government hospital. Sufficient and necessary arrangements might have not been made in Jorhat Medical College & Hospital for which many people lost their lives. The JMCH and other Medical colleges of the state, excluding the GMCH should learn from the incidents and make them prepare to handle emergency non-COVID cases so that such incidents are not repeated in future. The GMCH has made arrangements to handle such cases from the beginning.
