MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court informed that Aryan Khan, the elder son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, will not have to appear before the NCB Mumbai office every Friday as required by the high court's bail decision.

The drugs-on-cruise case in which he was arrested is not being probed by NCB Mumbai, Aryan had moved the court to request a change in his bail conditions.

The high court granted the waiver on Wednesday but stipulated that Aryan must appear before the SIT Delhi as and when directed, providing that notice is given 72 hours in advance.

Justice Nitin Sambre, who granted the waiver, stated that Aryan is free to travel outside of Mumbai as long as he informs the case's investigating officer of his plans ahead of time.

"We're asking for the bail condition 'J' requiring Friday's attendance to be changed. Nothing appears to be happening. He may be called whenever they wish," Sambre added.

After SIT, the Bombay branch is also not involved," senior attorney Amit Desai said on Wednesday. Because NCB Mumbai is not investigating the matter, the NCB agreed to a partial adjustment of the bail term. NCB's special prosecutor Shreeram Shirsat said Aryan should be present when the SIT summons him.

The high court granted Aryan Khan Bail on October 28 along with fourteen conditions. One of these requirements was that Aryan report to the NCB's south Mumbai headquarters every Friday to register his attendance.

As the high court heard the waiver petition, Aryan's lawyer, Desai, stated that every time Aryan Khan goes to the NCB's office in Mumbai, there is a large throng and he needs to be safely accompanied by police officers, which causes undue inconvenience. Every Friday since his release from prison, Aryan has paid a visit to the NCB office.

The anti-drugs agency nabbed Aryan Khan on October 3 following a raid on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai. The DEA had accused him of illegal narcotics possession, consumption, sale, and purchase. He was also charged with abetment and conspiracy.

He was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on October 28, three weeks after his arrest, after the court discovered significant flaws in the agency's case against him.
