Guwahati: The legions of fans of the deceased Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput will be stoked to know that his final film -- 'Dil Bechara' -- has racked up unbelievable 95 million views within a mere 24 hours of its release.

This was revealed during a survey by Ormax Media, an independent tracking firm. A representative from the firm believes that the numbers are comparable to viewership figures of the massively popular HBO series Game of Thrones, although he didn't give any data in this regard.

"If one wants to, comparisons could be drawn between the viewership of Dil Bechara and that of the much-acclaimed series Game of Thrones", a representative of Ormax Media said, adding, "this is possible even though the latter had a pre-existing viewer base, while the film did not. Then again, Hotstar promoted Dil Bechara from the onset, marketing its release date and time well in advance. Viewers showed up in unison to watch it."

This has led analysts and experts to believe that had the film been released in the theater, the collections would have been earth-shattering. For instance, if it had released on theatres, keeping the average ticket price as Rs 100, Dil Bechara would have made Rs 950 crore. And in PVR Cinemas theatres where the average ticket price is Rs 207, the estimated box office earnings would have been around Rs 2,000 crore. It leads one to assume that the film could have come very close to unseating the Amir Khan-starrer 'Dangal' as the undisputed king of the Indian box-office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has also opined that the film would have been equally successful in theatres too."I would have preferred watching it on the big screen", he said.

Fans of Sushant Singh Rajput were eagerly waiting for the evening of July 24 to watch the star's final movie that was released on Disney+Hotstar, a streaming service. 'Dil Bechara' is the final film of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor died by suicide on June 14, before it had been announced that the film would release on Disney+Hotstar and not in theatres. Disney+Hostar made the film free for both subscribers and non-subscribers.
