Vivek Agnihotri is known for hard-hitting movies like “The Kashmir Files”, “The Tashkent Files” and many more. He has also often hit the headlines for his strong opinions on Bollywood and stars. In a recent interview, Vivek Agnihotri has once again made some harsh criticism against Bollywood and called out the ‘hypocrisy’ of the filmmakers. He also spoke about the backlash received by Sandeep Reddy Vanga for Ranbir Kapoor starrer “Animal”. Talking to Digital Commentary, Vivek Agnihotri mentioned that Bollywood filmmakers often badmouth leading stars, however, have no courage to comment on face. He was asked about director Sandeep Reddy Vanga receiving the most criticism for “Animal” while Ranbir Kapoor being spared of it. To this, “The Kashmir Files” maker said, “Aukaat hi nahi hai inki, himmat hai karne ki, kar ke dikhayein (As if they have the courage to say anything about him. Who are they to criticise Ranbir? Let them try).” The filmmaker also said that directors and makers complain about ‘sadi acting’ and the big budgets of the films but have never had courage to say anything to the stars publicly. This has made headlines in entertainment news. “I challenge you to name one director or producer in Bollywood who doesn’t badmouth these stars. Do they have the courage to say anything in public? They don’t. So they deserve to suffer. Do phir Rs 150 crore ghatiya kaam ke, sadi hui acting ke (Then pay them Rs 150 crore for crap acting),” he said. The filmmaker shared that the reason why he quit Bollywood is that the makers have now attached their fortunes to the stars. Vivek Agnihotri, however, clarified that he does not have a problem with actual stars but with those who behave like big stars without achieving anything significant. (Agencies)
