Direct sunlight, high humidity can kill Coronavirus really fast: US Scientists

Studies by US scientists have revealed that direct sunlight and high humidity can kill coronavirus really fast.

William Bryan, science and technology adviser to the Department of Homeland Security, told reporters at the White House on Thursday that the virus can die quickest in the presence of direct sunlight.

"Our most striking observation to date is the powerful effect that solar light appears to have on killing the virus - both surfaces and in the air...We've seen a similar effect with both temperature and humidity as well, where increasing the temperature and humidity or both is generally less favourable to the virus," he said.

It was also revealed that exposure to high humidity can cause half-life of the virus to drop to six hours and further exposure to a combination of high humidity and sunlight, the half-life could drop to two minutes, he added.
