Female CEOs at Greater Risk of Dismissal Than Males

New York: Owing to a significant societal gender discrimination, women CEOs are much more likely than male CEOs to be fired, even if they perform well, according to the researchers including one of an Indian origin. The study showed that female CEOs are about 45 per cent more vulnerable than male CEOs to be dismissed from their respective firms. In addition, while performance improvements protect male CEOs from dismissal, they do not protect female CEOs. “Dismissing the CEO is usually viewed as evidence of good corporate governance”. (IANS)
