Man Arrested For Filming Niece Naked While in Shower

In an utterly indecent incident, a 32 year old man from Myanmar was charged with filming his niece in the shower. The accused man, allegedly placed his cell phone on the window ledge of the bathroom while pointing its lens towards his niece.

Reportedly, the victim of the incident accidentally saw the mobile phone and upon its discovery, she deleted her video clip of her and slammed the phone on the bathroom floor, so that no evidence of her naked video could be used against her.

The victim's uncle who is a Myanmar national admitted to his crime on Wednesday that includes insulting a woman's modesty.

Two other similar charges against him were filed in 2018 and 2019 which involved his same niece who happens to be 20 years old by now.

According to a statement by the jury, "The 2018 charge states that the man took an upskirt photo of the same victim in 2018, when she was wearing a dress. A year later, on 5 July 2019, the man used the same phone to take two photographs of the woman while aiming the lens at the opening of her shorts when she was sleeping in her bedroom."

Sources within the court further revealed about the case saying, "Sometime in 2017, the victim took a shower in the master bedroom toilet after returning home from school. As she finished her shower she looked up and saw the man's mobile phone placed on the toilet window ledge with its camera lens pointed towards the shower area."

According to the victim's statement, she noticed the cell phone in recording mode and after that she deleted the video clip of her showering and threw the phone onto the toilet floor before leaving.

She further added that she earlier hid the matter fearing the fact that no one would ever believe her.

The police said, "The accused person's phone was damaged during the 2017 incident, and the phone that he used for his subsequent offences has already been taken under custody for further investigations into the matter.

It may be mentioned that, the victim's school counsellor had filed a police complaint against the offences in the year 2019.

The prosecution called for 12 weeks' jail for the man, saying that he had gravely intruded the woman's privacy.

Speaking on the issue, Deputy Public Prosecutor Chong Ee Hsiun said that, "The victim was young at the time of the first offence, and that the act had been carried out by a family member whom she was entitled to trust. The victim had also suffered negative psychological effects as shown by her fear of showering and sleeping."
