VIETNAM:

For 41 years, a man who lived in total seclusion in the woods of Vietnam with his father and brother had no clue that women existed. He's been nicknamed the "Real Tarzan."

Ho Van Lang escaped human civilization toward the ending of the Vietnam War in 1972, when his mother and two siblings died by a US bomb. Lang settled deep in the wilderness in Quang Ngai province's Tay Tra district.

They only saw five other humans in four decades, and they all fled away from them.

The trio subsisted solely on the outdoors, eating honey, fruit, and woodland animals, building shelters and foraging for food.

Alvaro Cerezo, a photojournalist, followed the family in 2015. They were "rescued" from their secluded existence and sent to a nearby town populated by women.

Cerezo told news.com.au that Lang's father had a "profound phobia of returning [to civilisation] as he did not believe that the Vietnam War was over."

"They always escaped when they saw people from a distance. More surprising still is that today, despite being able to distinguish between men and women, he still doesn't know the essential difference between them," he said.

"I can confirm that Lang has never had the minimum sexual desire and his reproductive instinct has never shown its head in any of its many facets," he added.

Lang's brother Tri characterized him as a "baby in a man's body" who knew very little about "many basic social concepts."

"Lang has spent his whole life in the jungle. So his brain is just like a baby. If I asked Lang to beat someone, he would do it severely. He doesn't know the difference between good and bad. Lang is just a child," explained Tri about his brother's nature.

"He doesn't know anything. Most people know what is good or bad in life, but my brother doesn't. If I asked Lang to stab someone with a knife, he would do it without thinking and that person could die," he added.

Despite concerns that Lang might kill anybody at any time, Cerezo stated that he was happy adjusting to his new existence.

Lang, he added, was perhaps the most lovely human I'd ever met in his life; he simply doesn't know how to distinguish between what is good or bad.

He added, "The first year was the most difficult for Lang because of health problems from a virus and bacteria new to his system."

Lang believes that the modern world is "noisy," yet he enjoys watching "animals being friendly with people."

He said that in the wild animals would always flee from him.
