New feature in Google Maps let user keep a check on speed limits

Guwahati: Google Maps has added another useful feature for its users with the help of which a person driving a car can now keep a check on his vehicle’s speed alongside a knowledge of the local speed limits. With the addition of this new feature for the Google Maps users, it has made sure that none of its users will have to get caught and charged a penalty for exceeding the maximum speed limit. The feature added by Google Maps is named as live speedometer which can also be turned on and off from the app’s Navigation Settings menu in Settings.

The user can turn it on or off as per the requirements and the direct button to do so is displayed in the bottom left corner of the app during the journey. This particular feature was first seen appearing in the Waze app and the same was being bought by Google back in 2013.

However, although this feature has been introduced for all by Google Maps, it is not equally accessible around the world. At some particular places, the feature doesn’t appear for the users. As reported by the Android Police, this feature can be seen in countries like Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, India, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK, and the US.

While introducing this feature, Google also says that the addition of the speed limit functionality is only for “informational purposes”.

The good thing is that, from now on, whenever you drive your car, you will not have to worry about being caught by the traffic and charged a penalty for driving at a speed above the limit specified. the only thing you will have to do is to keep the feature on and notice your speed alongside the permitted speed limit constantly. this will, however, also keep you a step away from the road accident s and any other hazards that are caused by over speeding.
