Taiwan to host Diwali celebrations

Taipei: The Taiwanese government will sponsor the mega Diwali celebrations in Taiwan. The celebrations, which will take place in the Taiwanese capital Taipei, will see the participation of the representatives of the government.

The Diwali celebrations are being organised by Taipei India Music and Culture Centre and Indians in Taiwan group. The Deputy Taiwan Foreign Minister Tien Chung Kwang will be present at the celebrations.

The engagement between India and Taiwan have recently increased in terms of societal interaction. On Taiwan National Day, strong support was seen in India angering Chinese Embassy.

Tsai ing-wen, the Taiwanese president had tweeted about Indian dishes and said that her favourite Indian dish is Chana Masala and Naan. She recalled her India visit, terming it as "memories of a vibrant, diverse & colorful country."
