Veteran Day is one of the unique holiday days observed in the United States honoring the militants who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The day often falls in the middle of the week and this year it falls on the 2nd Thursday of November. The origin of the veteran day comes from the end of the First World War and in 1919 the day was first recognized as Armistice Day by President Woodrow Wilson. In the year 1938, Congress made a law for marking 11 November as a legal holiday.

On the day banks to post offices and many other government offices remain close across the country to pay tribute to veterans and also the on-duty military personnel.
