10 Indian Army jawans released by China in aftermath of Galwan skirmish

In the aftermath of the deadliest clash between the two nuclear-armed Asian neighbours at Galwan valley, 10 Indian army soldiers were released by China on Thursday evening.

Among the 10 Indian army soldiers, there were two Majors who were released, three days after the violent face-off.

The release follows several rounds of talks between the two sides in a bid to ease tensions after the battle on Monday.

The army official on Thursday denied its soldiers were in Chinese custody.

"No Indian troops missing in action," a statement released by the army said.

But later on the same day evening, the Indian Army said 76 of its soldiers were wounded in Monday night's violent face off in Galwan Valley. Out of 76, 18 were seriously injured while 58 of them sustained minor injuries.

The last military skirmish between India and China took place at Nathu La in September 1967. Dating back to 1967 Indo China border dispute, India lost around 80 soldiers, while the number of dead on the Chinese side was over 300.
