GUWAHATI: Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with a fatal stampede that occurred during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4.

In this unfortunate incident, the 39-year-old Revathi lost her life whereas her eight-year-old son was taken for treatment at a hospital. His interrogations began on Friday after he was taken in for questioning at the Chikkadpally Police Station.

As soon as a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun, a stampede ensued. It has been reported that the authorities in Telangana were not informed of the actor attending the screening. The management of the theatre knew about his arrival, but the police were not informed, resulting in no additional measures being taken to manage the audience.

Because the audience had no separate entry and exit point, the situation got worse, eventually leading to an influx of people. This all began after fans pushed forward to get a clear viewpoint of Allu Arjun which created a stampede.

Legal Proceedings and Compensation

In light of this tragedy, on December 5 police lodged an FIR against Allu Arjun along with the management of Sandhya Theatre and his bodyguards following the mishap.

According to the pertinent Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshansh Yadav, the case was registered under the penal provision related to culpable homicide as well as voluntarily causing hurt, based on a complaint of the victim.

On December 12, Allu Arjun approached the Telangana High Court, requesting the cancellation of the FIR filed against him. The actor denied any wrongdoing and sought legal relief. In a gesture of support for the grieving family, Arjun announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the family of the deceased.
