Players face tough time after arrival

GUWAHATI, Feb 3: Two legendary athletes of Assam – Bhogeswar Baruah and Molisa Baruah – will be part of the torch relay team during the iugural function of the 12th South Asian Games which will be held at the Indira Gandhi Athletics stadium on Friday. Talking to The Sentinel, a source in the organizing committee said, “We have selected four top sportspersons for these purpose and two others are shooter Gagan rang and former captain of Indian soccer team Baichung Bhutia”.
Meanwhile, chaos erupted in the city as players and the officials of the different participating teams arrived today. Members of the different teams had to wait in many places to get vehicles and accommodation. A big contingent from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka arrived in the city today to take part in the 12th South Asian Games. The Bangladesh team, which brought 127 members, had to wait for more than one hour to get their vehicle due to inefficiency of the organizing committee. Indian men and women team has to wait for over an hour in their buses for getting accommodation. The officials of the Assam Hockey Association who was accompanying the team, was forced to arrange food for the players and officials before they were shifted to other places.
