ALIGARH: In an unexpected turn of event, a woman eloped with the fiance of her daughter just nine days before her daughter's marriage.
This bizzare act unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh with the woman's daughter seemingly in disbelief and unable to digest what just happened with her.
She was left in deep shock so much so that she was finding it difficult to come to terms with her mother's betrayal, that too just days ahead of their wedding.
The 40-year-old woman identified as Anita Devi ran away from her home with Rahul, the groom-to-be of her daughter who was supposed to tie the knot with her daughter on April 16.
According to the Aligarh Police, she stole jewellery brought for her daughter's marriage along with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash.
Later, Rahul reportedly called his father after eloping with his to-be mother-in-law to tell him not to try to find him.
Based on investigations, the police have found Anita Devi to be secretly planning to elope with Rahul. The cops believe that she was constantly communicating with him over the phone which, incidentally, was gifted to her by Rahul himself. Following their elopement, the couple switched off their mobile phones.
Meanwhile, the woman's husband identified as Jitendra Kumar has also been left bewildered by his wife's act. He said that his wife had been preparing for their daughter's wedding until this unthinkable incident unraveled.
