Bengaluru: PM Narendra Modi Boosts Indigenous Aviation Confidence with Tejas Fighter Aircraft Sortie

KARNATAKA: In a significant and historic event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a momentous sortie aboard a Tejas fighter aircraft in Bengaluru during his visit to the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) site. Taking to the social media platform, the Prime Minister, with enthusiasm, shared his enriching experience, expressing a heightened confidence in the nation's indigenous capabilities and igniting a renewed sense of pride and optimism about India's national potential.

The Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, was present on-site, overseeing the meticulous preparations for Prime Minister Modi's maiden sortie in the indigenously manufactured Tejas, a symbol of India's prowess in the aviation sector. The aircraft was piloted by Indian Air Force test pilot Group Captain Debanjan Mandal, underscoring the seamless coordination between military and civilian entities in advancing India's aviation capabilities.

The sortie took place in the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, a testament to India's commitment to bolstering its defense with cutting-edge, domestically produced technology. As part of his visit to Bengaluru, the Prime Minister also undertook a comprehensive review of the manufacturing facility, with a specific focus on the production of Tejas jets.

Meanwhile, in a strategic move, the Indian Air Force recently issued a tender to the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the acquisition of 12 advanced Su-30MKI fighter jets. This endeavor aligns with India's vision of self-reliance and indigenous manufacturing, with the aim of meeting the high standards set by the Aatmanirbhar policies in the defense sector.

Defence sources revealed that the tender mandates the manufacturing of these Su-30MKI fighters in India through collaboration between HAL and Russian original equipment manufacturers. The public sector company is anticipated to respond to the tender by the next month, presenting a comprehensive outline of the project, including details about indigenous content, in line with the Indian Air Force's requirements.

The acquisition of these advanced fighter jets not only strengthens India's air defense capabilities but also underscores the nation's commitment to reducing dependence on foreign suppliers. With a focus on Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), this initiative aligns with the government's broader vision of fostering a robust defense ecosystem within the country.
