BSNL to launch triple play service in Vishakhapatnam

GUWAHATI: The general manager of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Vishakhapatnam district, Paul Williams, informed that the company has decided to launch triple play services that will combine telephone, high speed internet and cable network.

The service will be launched on 23rd October at Gurajada Kalakshetram.

As per Williams’s statement on Tuesday, BSNL has 70,000 broadband connections and over 2000 fibre line connections in the district.

While the state owned the state-owned telecommunications company has decided to launch 4G services in the city by the end of this year, BSNL is already providing 4G services in Srikakulam town as well as nine other places, including Darakonda, a tribal area in Visakhapatnam Agency.

According to sources, DGM (consumer mobility) Chandra Shekhar said that, BSNL had obtained 4G equipment a couple of years ago.

He further added that they will provide 3G and 4G connections simultaneously using a portion of 3G bandwidth for 4G and when the customers adjust to 4G, the company will remove the 3G.

The Visakhapatnam telecom district has eight lakh mobile connections. Of which, three lakh are 3G and 2G. These connections are accommodates using 600 mobile towers including 150 in the Port City.

It may be mentioned that, BSNL and YuppTv have entered into a triple play partnership for video and broadband technology services for mobile and fixed line.
