Guwahati: Amid coronavirus outbreak across the nation, the Ministry of Education has introduced the virtual inspection for schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education on Thursday.

Citing the hardships faced by the schools due to no inspection, the Central Board of Education has adopted the virtual mode for "up-gradation of affiliation".

As per a statement given by CBSE, the initiative has been taken to avoid an academic loss to the students.

Notably, the board decided to conduct Virtual Inspection of Schools (VIOS) for roughly 1000 cases registered for upgradation in session 2019-20 and 2020-21.

This move will most likely mitigate the anxiety and on-ground problems of schools and the students.

CBSE has determined Standard Operating Procedure to conduct Virtual Inspection of Schools which shall operate on a digital platform and will give access to inspect the infrastructure such as additional classrooms, labs, availability of teachers for the classes or subjects required to qualify for upgradation of the school.

It is to be mentioned that the school and Inspection committee will require a Smart Phone or a Tab, an IPAD, or a Laptop with high-speed wi-fi internet connectivity for the process.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court had dismissed the plea filed by a gaggle of scholars looking for cancellation of the CBSE compartmental exams.

The apex court has asked parties to file a fresh writ petition if they seek to challenge the CBSE's decision for conducting compartment exams amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Central Board of Education has, however, not issued any dates for these exams.
