NEW DELHI: The CISF has come up with a new version of its HR policy as part of measures to keep up with emerging security concerns and also care for its employees' well-being and growth.

Replacing the guidelines of 2017, this version aims to gear the force towards greater responsibility in securing strategic national assets while taking good care of the employees' work-life balance.

The last six years have witnessed a huge growth in the CISF, which has grown from 1.5 lakh personnel to over 1.9 lakh personnel and operational units have increased from 339 to 359. The force also assumed new responsibilities in terms of jail security and the protection of the Parliament House Complex.

The updated HR policy takes into account this development in terms of the changing face of threats, which could be in the form of drone technology or a cyber breach of security, and adoption of global security standards.

Major features of the policy include inducting domain experts in cyber-security, aviation security, and fire management. Such experts will undergo advanced training at top institutions and work towards the implementation of world-class security practices.

Personnel in specialized roles such as K9 handlers, training instructors, and sports professionals would receive enhanced training and be given preferential postings since their work is very challenging.

For the first time, it introduces choice-based posting to allow personnel to place choices for ten preferred postings, thereby giving personnel opportunities for job satisfaction and stabilizing family relationships, more importantly for women and for couples. Additionally, all persons retiring in two years would be given priority postings on chosen locations to support their pre-retirement planning.

The policy stabilizes the schedule for issuance of posting orders and thereby enables personnel to prepare in advance for family and education needs. It also has ensured regional representation by keeping the ratio of home sector postings and all-India postings at 60-40.

This new HR policy, affecting 98% of CISF personnel, is a transformative step towards fostering professional excellence and meeting emerging security challenges while promoting a motivated and resilient workforce.
