Climate change activist Licypriya Kangujam joins farmers' protest at Singhu border

New Delhi: A nine-year-old climate change activist, Licypriya Kangujam is a brave child who has come out to support the protesting farmers at the Singhu border, Delhi. The farmers have been protesting against the Centre's farm laws since the last month. The young activist assured the farmers at the border that the climate change activists around the world are with them. Kangujam has posted videos and photos of her with the farmers at the Singhu border.

A video was posted by Licypriya on the microblogging site, Twitter. She captioned the video: "Hope my voice will reach all over the world. No farmers, No food. No justice, No rest."

Kangujam along with the farmers were seen shouting the slogans: "No Justice, No Rest" and "No farmers, No Food."

In another tweet on Twitter, Kangujam wrote: "Met with children who are spending last 14 days in this cold freezing temperature with their parents and grandparents at farmers' protest site in the middle of the highway at Singhu Border."

She shared a photo of hers and the families of farmers in the tweet.

Kangujam has requested the farmers to stop burning the straw stubble that remains after grains. She said that farmers are the biggest victims of climate change. Their crops are being destroyed by various natural disasters and phenomena like frequent floods, droughts, extreme weather events, and so on. She further added that thousands of farmers die every year. The leaders the country chose should listen to the problems of the farmers. The permanent solution needs to be brought out to solve the ongoing crisis of the farmers.

This is not the first time that Kangujam has protested. She has been regularly protesting outside the Parliament House in New Delhi, demanding compulsory climate education in schools and also, stricter laws to fight against climate change.
