Cow Urine Prevents COVID Infections: Bhopal MP Pragya Thakur

Bhopal: Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, BJP MP from Bhopal, has said that 'gau mutra' (cow urine) can prevent COVID-19 infection. The saffron-clad Sadhvi said that she did not catch the infection because she was regularly taking the gau mutra.

Sources said that she was speaking at a function of dedicating oxygen concentrators to the people in Bairagarh, a suburb near Bhopal. She said that consumption of desi gai gau mutra ark (concentration of cow urine of indigenous cows) can cure lung infection.

According to her, she was taking it regularly and that was the reason she did not have to take any medicine and did not catch coronavirus infection.

Pragya also said that additional oxygen was not required if saplings of peepal (Ficus religiosa), tulsi (holy basil) and bargad ( banyan) trees were planted. She also announced the planting of one crore saplings in Bhopal.

"Water tankers would be provided for watering the saplings," she added.

In 2019, Pragya Singh said that the mixture of gau mutra and other cow products cured her cancer. Criticising her opponents , she said some people were maligning her by saying she was missing. She said that such people were committing crime and should not be pardoned.

Pragya also said that she was unwell and was serving the society from her bungalow in Bhopal.

On the other hand, doctors in India are warning against using cow dung in the hopes of warding off COVID-19, claiming that there is no scientific evidence for its efficacy and that it could spread other diseases.

Some believers in Gujarat have been going to cow shelters once a week to coat their bodies in cow dung and urine in the hopes of boosting their immunity to fight and recover from the COVID-19 infection. They say the cow is a sacred symbol of life and the earth in Hinduism, and Hindus have used cow dung for cleaning and prayer rituals for centuries, claiming it to have medicinal and antiseptic properties.
