Declare Exam Results, Else...: Mumbai University Receives Bomb Threat Over E-Mails

MUMBAI: Mumbai University's Director of Exams and Evaluation said that it has received bomb threat e-mails asking to release the examination results of Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).

Further, Mumbai University has said it received multiple e-mails asking for the release of undergraduate exam results, failing which the university building could be blown up using a bomb.

Further, the university officials have lodged a complaint at the Bandra Kurla Complex police station.

Meanwhile, the police officials are trying to trace the IP address of the system from which the e-mails were sent.

The Mumbai University released the final year semester results of BCom and BSc in July after much delay. The conduct of the examination and results were delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The present email bomb threats come in the backdrop of two hoax bomb calls made to the police in the last fortnight.

Notably, the first one was received on August 4, threatened to blow up the US consulate at the BKC, whereas the second call on August 7 claimed that bombs had been planted near actor Amitabh Bachchan's bungalow at Juhu CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) and Dadar railway stations. Three inebriated individuals were arrested for making the second hoax call.
