FCI employees stage protest

SHILLONG, May 3: The employees of Food Corporation of India (FCI) under the banner of Bharatiya Khadya Nigam Karamchari Sangh has intensified their agitation after the Central government has not taken any steps to fulfill their demands put forward by them for the last three years.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Ango Mohan Paul, regiol secretary of the organization, said, “We had submitted our demands to the then UPA government in Delhi however even after the NDA government took over there seems to be no movement in fulfilling our demands.”

The FCI employees had started their agitation on April 25 by staging a sit-in-demonstration outside the FCI office across the country. The agitation will continue till May 6 in Zol Office followed by a public rally form FCI Headquarter to the official residence of Prime Minister May 10 to submit their memorandum.

Asked on the silent attitude of the Union Ministry of Food, on their demands, Ango Mohan Paul said that the Ministry of Food and authority concerned at FCI has not taken their demands seriously. The demands made by the FCI employees are introducing pension plan, departmental examitions for staffs under the category I&II and FCI recruitment.
