Apache assault helicopters were delivered to the Indian Army for the first time on Tuesday. According to an ANI report, three Apache attack helicopters from the initial batch have arrived in India and will be stationed at Jodhpur.

"Milestone moment for Indian Army as the first batch of Apache helicopters for Army Aviation arrive today in India. These state-of-the-art platforms will bolster the operational capabilities of the Indian Army significantly," the Indian Army shared on X.

Modern targeting technologies installed on Apache helicopters give precise information on the target in any kind of weather. They can be employed in peacekeeping, security, and reconnaissance missions in addition to attacks. Additionally, they have night vision navigation devices, which will further enhance the army's offensive capabilities. They also incorporate the newest weapon, sensor, navigation, and communication technologies. 22 Apache helicopters were previously acquired by the Indian Air Force in 2015 as part of an agreement with Boeing and the US government. In July 2020, the United States delivered all 22 Apache attack helicopters to the Indian Air Force.

Later in the year, when US President Donald Trump (during his first term) visited India, New Delhi signed a deal worth $600 million to buy six Apache helicopters. Under this, the first consignment was to be delivered to India between May and June 2024. However, the deployment was delayed.
