Former Windies cricketer Brian Lara admitted to Mumbai hospital after sudden chest pain

Mumbai: Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara is reported to have been admitted to a Mumbai hospital for feeling unwell suddenly. The popular cricketer is in Mumbai these days for his commentary contract with Start Sports for the ongoing World Cup. It was while attending an event in a Mumbai hotel that the cricketer felt unwell and complained of chest pain for which he was immediately being carried and admitted Global Hospital in Parel.

Lara has undergone angiography in the hospital after complaining of chest pain. A formal statement on the health status of the cricketer will be released by the hospital authority later in the day.

As reported by media, although Lara went for angiography, he did not have to go for angioplasty as the doctors at the hospital did not see any risk in angiography report.

Lara, for being engaged in a commentary contract with Star Sports is in Mumbai these days as he is doing commentary for the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup from Mumbai studios. The all-time hit and popular cricketer from West Indies is the highest individual scorer in a Test inning. He had scored a massive run of 400 not out against England in 2004. Not only this, but Lara also is the record holder of highest runs in a single over in a Test match. Lara had hit 28 runs in a single over while playing against South Africa in 2003.

Brian Lara is often compared to Little Master Sachin Tendulkar when it comes to the popularity and love that he derives from his admirers. Both the cricketers were contemporaries and had shared great chemistry on the field.

The former international cricketer is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen of all time till date.
