
CHHATTISGARH: In a fierce gun battle on Saturday evening, four Maoist guerrillas were reported to have been killed in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. During the clash, a head constable from District Reserve Guard also lost his life. The confrontation occurred in south Abujhmaad, located near the Narayanpur and Dantewada districts' border, when security forces had launched an operation against Naxalites.
According to a senior police official, the confrontation erupted when the joint security team engaged with the Maoists. As the gunfire ceased late on Saturday night, the forces recovered the bodies of the insurgents, along with several automatic weapons, including an AK-47 and a self-loading rifle (SLR).
Sadly, the head constable of the DRG, Sannu Karam, was confirmed dead in the line of duty. The official further added that search operations in the area are still ongoing with hope of neutralizing any existing remaining threats.
The security forces operation is targeting the activities of Maoist insurgents, who for a long time have been challenging this region.Until now, the government has not released information on the dead insurgents and other details regarding the search operations which are going on.
The operation has focused the efforts of the security forces combating Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh. Despite the death of a courageous officer, continued search operations reveal that the region is committed to peace and security.
