
PRAYAGRAJ: The ‘Amrit Snan’ at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 wrapped up with a vibrant spiritual celebration, drawing over 35 million devotees to the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on Makar Sankranti. This significant event commenced on January 13 and will run until February 26. Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, and Maha Kumbh held every 144 years hold great spiritual and religious sentiment.
The important bathing dates of the festival are January 29-Mauni Amavasya, February 3-Basant Panchami, February 12-Maghi Purnima, and February 26-Maha Shivaratri. As more than 450 million people are expected, it is still the world's largest religious congregation.
Abhay Singh, popularly known as 'IITian Baba', had once been a promising student in aerospace engineering at IIT but threw it all up for spirituality. Singh, in an interview, talked about his journey from IIT Bombay to embracing a life dedicated to Lord Shiva. He was originally from Haryana, spent four years at IIT, then shifting his attention from science to arts, he became a Master of Design but then found another passion in photography.
Singh, who was also teaching Physics to students, took philosophy courses to understand what life is. He said, "This stage is the best stage." The transformation of such a person indicates the level of influence of Maha Kumbh Mela on the minds of people in search of something more spiritual.
