New Delhi: Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju Wednesday reiterated his vision to witness India among the top 10 countries in the 2028 Olympics to be held in the United States. In the last Olympics held in 2016 in Brazil's Rio De Jeneiro, India had stood joint 67th with Mongolia.

Stating that "aim and objective" is very important in every work that is being done, the Minister added that there should be a target in mind and the target is to finish in the top 10 in the 2028 Olympics, Rijiju said during the launch ceremony of the new Sports Authority of India (SAI) logo through a virtual ceremony.

Kiren Rijiju said that to accomplish this ambitious goal, the government has taken an eight-year target. Expressing optimism, the Union Minister added this goal is firmly within reach for the budding athletes of the nation,

Rijiju today revealed the new Sports Authority of India (SAI) logo, which has been changed for the first time since 1982, at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. The new SAI logo highlights the ''SAI'' in bold letters with the depiction of an athlete''s flight to success in the background.

The brief ceremony was also attended by Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal, SAI Director General Sandip Pradhan, and Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra.

Speaking on the occasion, Rijiju said that he proposed to change SAI''s logo and make it more simple and meaningful after being appointed the Sports Minister.

"The new logo is small but it''s meaning and goal is big. The logo is the identity of any organization. SAI has been promoting sports in India for long but it''s old logo looked long and cluttered to me," Rijiju said. "So, I thought of a short logo where SAI''s name is more visible. The new logo is a thought of simplicity."

Rijiju said that the new SAI logo would be easier to display, and would be imprinted easily in people's minds.
