Kalsubai: Sometimes you just cannot trust google maps blindly and could be fatal, in one of such instance 34-year-old man drowned after driving his vehicle into a dam, while allegedly following directions on Google Maps.

According to a report by the Indian Express, the incident took place around 1.45 am on Sunday, when Satish Ghule was plying his employer Guru Shekhar (42), and his friend, Sameer Rajurkar (44) for a trek at Kalsubai, Maharashtra's highest peak.

While driving towards Kalsubai, they lost their way and sought guidance from Google Maps. Google showed them the nearest road from Kotul to Akole, however, it took them directly into a dam.

Since it was dark, the trio didn't notice it and accidentally drove into the water.

Police added that three managed to open a window of the vehicle and escape from the drowning car, however, Ghule did not know how to swim, and hence could not rescue himself.

Although locals rushed to the spot due to the darkness they could not do much.

Later Ghule's body was fished out of the water early on Sunday and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
