Drones and sniffer dogs are being employed in search and rescue efforts to find the 28 individuals who vanished after landslides, cloudbursts, and flash floods devastated the Mandi district's Thunag, Gohar, and Karsog subdivisions last week, officials announced on Monday.
Search and rescue efforts are being carried out by over 250 members of the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Home Guards, National and State Disaster Response Forces, as well as villagers and the administration. According to officials, 20 teams are also providing medical kits and rations in remote locations and collecting information.

The impacted individuals have received 1,538 ration kits thus far, and Rs 12.44 lakh in emergency help has been given. They stated that the Thunag and Janjheli areas are receiving an extra Rs 5 lakh apiece.
Nearly 130 crates of relief supplies were airlifted by the Indian Air Force on Monday to the isolated and severely damaged Janjehli region of Mandi. Among these consignments were 170 blankets, 249 tarpaulins, biscuits, powdered milk packages, ready-to-eat food, spices, and other essentials. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) organized the air drops, which were essential in getting to villages that had been shut off by landslides and roads that had been washed away.

Meanwhile, SDM Gaurav Mahajan announced the creation of a special Sub-Division Disaster Relief Fund in Karsog subdivision, where the disaster has severely damaged livelihoods and infrastructure. Mahajan called on people, philanthropists, and NGOs to help those in need. Sub-Division Disaster Relief Fund Karsog is the account name where donations can be made. The account number is 50100605031091, and the IFSC is HDFC0008106.
Information indicates that the several cloudbursts in Mandi had killed 14 people and left 28 more missing. The catastrophe caused damage to about 225 homes, seven stores, 243 cow buildings, 31 cars, 14 bridges, and numerous roads. According to the most recent report, 494 humans have been rescued and 215 livestock have died.
