Mumbai: Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala lashed out at the media for running 'sponsored agenda' over the issue and refused to acknowledge such distasteful comments

A massive row erupted after Barack Obama's former book 'A Promised Land' comments on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Senior Shiv Sena leader lashed out at the former US president and questioned his credibility of knowledge on India.

Raut said that a foreign politician cannot give opinions on Indian political leaders just as our leaders do not call Trump 'mad'. According to him, such domestic political discourse is distasteful.

Obama, who is known to be a measured speaker, had commented on Rahul Gandhi's demeanour saying, "He has a nervous, unformed quality about him as if he were a student who'd done the coursework and was eager to impress the teacher but deep down lacked either the aptitude or the passion to master the subject."

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) jumped upon the opportunity to criticise the Gandhi scion who has had a series of unfortunate failures as the Congress president., especially in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Randeep Surjewala lashed out at the media in a tweet

"May I remind certain overzealous friends of the media running a sponsored agenda", he said. "In the past, a leader has been called 'psychopath' and 'master divider' by people and agencies. We didn't acknowledge such comments!", he added.
