NEW DELHI: Under the new excise policy, the Delhi government has permitted the home delivery of liquor through online portals and mobile apps. In a notification, holders of the L-13 license will be allowed to deliver liquor to the doorstep of people.

The notification added that the licensee shall make delivery of liquor at the residences only if the order is received through the mobile app or online web portal and no delivery shall be made to any hostel, office, and institution. It is to be mentioned here that in May 2020, the Supreme Court suggested that states should consider an indirect sale and home delivery of liquor to restrict COVID-19 spread.

States like Maharashtra, Kolkata, Odisha, West Bengal who has already initiated the process of delivering the liquor at the customers' doorsteps are tieing up with e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Swiggy, Zomato, and BigBasket, hence the delhi government will also adapt the same process for easy and hassle-free delivery.
Who can order liquor online in Delhi?
With the delivery of liquor going online, there might be an issue of the underage section to get indulged in buying, hence create a worrisome atmosphere among the parents or guardians. However, the Delhi government might ask e-commerce delivery apps to procure a permit first before placing an order, and/or proof of age might be enough for you to place an order.
