“I did not know for almost 8 years I was suffering from Tuberculosis": Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, in a recent revelation about his life and health, has said that it took him 8 years to finally realize and discover that he is suffering from Tuberculosis.

The legend of the Hindi film industry is known by all, was suffering from Tuberculosis and is completely cured now for proper medication and treatment.

Being a tuberculosis survivor, Amitabh Bachchan has set the instance for the TB patients by taking timely treatment.

However, what is shocking is that the actor was unaware of his disease for eight long years and had no idea as to what was going on inside his body. He added, “I did not know for almost 8 years I was suffering from Tuberculosis.”

The senior Bachchan made this revelation in a recent TV programme while having a conversation with Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. The actor also revealed his personal experiences and example of fighting with TB while also urging people to get regular checkups for a timely treatment and cure from the disease.

Bachchan added, “I keep quoting my personal example all the time and try and propagate the idea of getting yourself detected and I don’t mind saying this publicly I am a tuberculosis survivor, Hepatitis B survivor...”

Amitabh Bachchan, by fighting against the disease, has set an example that TB can be fought with and can also be cured. He also added that the disease made place in his body through the infusion of bad blood. 75 percent of his liver was also gone. He could detect the disease only when 75 percent of my liver was gone and despite that, he underwent treatment and is today surviving on 25 percent.

After fighting with the disease and coming out of it victoriously, Bachchan took part in several health awareness campaigns and helped millions in fighting with the disease.
