NEW DELHI: In a breakthrough in the healthcare sector, the Union Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare, and Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, informed that a vaccine to fight cancers in women would be ready within five to six months.

The vaccine is in the final stages of research and is in the process of trials. It will be given to girls between the age group of 9 to 16 years. The project is focused on offering early protection against certain cancers, lessening their incidence in the long term.

Speaking at a press meet in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Minister Jadhav pointed out the increasing number of cancer cases in India. He informed that the Central government has been acting proactively to contain this emerging health issue.

As a part of this, women over the age of 30 will undergo cancer screening at hospitals, and daycare cancer facilities will be provided to facilitate early detection and timely treatment.

The minister pointed out that the study on the vaccine is on the verge of completion and that the trials are going in a positive direction. He ensured that the vaccine would be introduced in the next few months, that is, among young girls, to provide them with protection against cancer at an early age. The vaccine will mostly be aimed at breast, mouth, and cervical cancers, which are among the most prevalent forms of cancer in Indian women.

Apart from this medical breakthrough, Jadhav also announced that the government has exempted customs duty on drugs employed in cancer treatment. This is to make life-saving drugs affordable and accessible to patients nationwide, lessening the financial strain on families fighting the disease.

The production of this vaccine is a great milestone in the war against cancer in India, especially among women. With its entry into the market, health specialists expect the cases of cancer to significantly decrease over time, translating into better health outcomes and an enhanced public health system.
