New Delhi: The Joker virus is back again in the disguise of several apps on Google Play Store. This was informed to the general public by the Belgian Police.

The virus hides in the apps and attacks the users by accessing their data which they steal from the user's Android device. The virus is also said to be capable of subscribing the user to payment services without their authorization.

In a published statement, the Belgian police said, "This malicious program has been detected in eight Play Store applications that Google has suppressed."

The 8 apps detected by the Belgian police coincide with the ones detected by researchers at Quick Heal Security Labs in June this year. According to data, a number of Android users still have these apps on their phones and are becoming victims of the Joker malware. All the users have been strongly advised to delete these apps.

The apps included in the list are:

Auxiliary Message

Element Scanner

Fast Magic SMS

Free CamScanner

Go Messages

Super Message

Super SMS

Travel Wallpaper

The Joker virus was first detected in 2017. It is a persistent malware that attacks Android users continuously.

As per reports, the virus steals the user's money by having access to users' data, including SMS, contact list, device info, OTPs and more.

"You risk a big surprise at the end of the month in your bank account or on your credit card," warns the Belgian police.

The app subscribes its victim to its payment services, especially Premium services, without the knowledge of the user.
