New Delhi:  Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Jaishankar declared unequivocally that no such call occurred between April 22 and June 16.

“I want to tell them to listen carefully—kaan kholke sun lo—between April 22 and June 16, not a single phone call took place between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi,” Jaishankar said, addressing opposition leaders in Parliament.

EAM Denies Any US Mediation, Reaffirms Bilateral Stance on India-Pakistan Issues

He went on to clarify India’s diplomatic stance during Operation Sindoor, stating that several countries had contacted India to gauge the seriousness of the situation, but all were told that New Delhi would not accept any third-party mediation regarding Pakistan.

“Anything between us and Pakistan will only be bilateral. We responded to Pakistani aggression and would continue doing so until Pakistan formally requested a ceasefire through the DGMO channel,” Jaishankar said, emphasising India’s long-standing policy of handling Pakistan-related matters without external interference.

Congress Accused of ‘Selective History’ Over Indus Water Treaty

Turning his focus to the Congress party, Jaishankar accused it of being “uncomfortable with history” and criticised its handling of the Indus Water Treaty. He argued that the treaty, signed in 1960, gave away major Indian rivers to Pakistan with little regard for Indian farmers.

Recalling a 1960 parliamentary remark by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Jaishankar said, “He spoke about doing the treaty in the interest of Pakistani Punjab—there was not a word about farmers in Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, or Gujarat.”

Jaishankar asserted that Prime Minister Modi has since "corrected" the mistakes of Nehru, not only concerning the treaty but also with decisions like the abrogation of Article 370, repositioning India's internal and external policies in a stronger light.
