Maharastra: Four Injured in Explosion While Altering Perfume Expiry Dates in Palghar

NALA SOPORA: Four members of a family, including two children, sustained injuries in an explosion at a flat in Maharashtra's Palghar district.

Authorities revealed that the family was attempting to alter the expiry dates on perfume bottles when the incident occurred.

The incident took place late Thursday night or early Friday in Room No. 112 of Roshni Apartment in Nala Sopara, located on the outskirts of Mumbai, the official said.

The police identified the victims as Mahavir Vadar (41), Sunita Vadar (38), Kumar Harshvardhan Vadar (9), and Kumari Harshada Vadar (14).

According to initial reports, the blast occurred while the family was attempting to change the expiry dates on perfume bottles, a process that may have involved flammable substances, the official said.

Kumar Harshvardhan is undergoing treatment at Life Care Hospital in Nala Sopara, while the other family members are receiving care at Oscar Hospital in the same locality, the official said.

Meanwhile, two workers were injured, and several others were feared trapped following the collapse of a silo at a smelting plant in Mungeli district, Chhattisgarh, on Thursday, according to police reports.

The incident occurred in the afternoon at the plant situated in the Saragaon area of the district, as confirmed by Mungeli Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel.

According to preliminary reports, the silo, an iron structure used for storing bulk materials, collapsed, trapping several workers at the site, he added.

Upon receiving the alert, the police arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation, the official stated. So far, two injured workers were rescued and taken to a hospital in Bilaspur, he added.
