Monkey Travelled 22Km In Karnataka to Take 'Revenge' From Villagers

Karnataka: A young male monkey of Bonnet Macaque species who is almost 5 years old has traveled around 22 km to take revenge from villagers after the forest officials with the help of local people took the monkey and released him in a forest area which was 22 km away from Kottigehara village of Chikkamagalur district in Karnataka.

The monkey was roaming around Kottigehara snatching fruits and snack packets every now and then. Many have informed the matter and the incidents occurring by the monkey to the forest department and a team came in to trap the mischievous monkey.

To catch the monkey the forest officials asked an auto driver Jagadish BB and other people to help them.

The monkey startled and scared Jagadish ran away from the spot. The monkey chased him wherever he went. He hid inside his auto-rickshaw and it attacked the vehicle and tore down the covering sheets. This went on for some time. However, the forest officials caught the monkey and released him into Balur forest which is around 22 km.

"I was scared as hell. The mad monkey was following me everywhere. It bit me so hard that my doctor said my wounds will take at least a month to heal. I can't drive my auto-rickshaw which is my bread and butter. Also, I didn't go home that day fearing the monkey would follow me home. I have small kids at home. What if it attacks them? I am still very afraid," said Jagadish.

It was an unfortunate days to the villagers and Jagadish as the money came back in the village traveling 22 km with the help of a truck.

The forest department team caught the monkey on 22nd September for the second time. This time, they have released him in a further far-off forest area. Jagadish is hoping that the monkey doesn't return. On the safer side, he has decided to stay indoors for a few days, just in case.
