According to the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2025, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is among the top 10 international airports in the world. For the third year in a row, CSMIA is the only airport in India to make the list this year, with a reader score of 84.23.
Nearly 180,000 readers participated in a global poll by Travel + Leisure, which yielded over 650,000 votes, which served as the basis for the rankings. The survey honors airports that provide seamless travel experiences, memorable dining, and thoughtful design in addition to efficiency and logistics.
CSMIA, spread across 1,900 acres, is the world's busiest single-runway airport and the second busiest in India, handling 55.12 million passengers and nearly 1,000 air traffic movements daily in FY 2024-25. The airport provides direct connectivity to 54 international and 67 domestic destinations.
A new Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC), 68 electronic gates, self-service check-in kiosks, digital payment systems, and the expansion of DigiYatra and FTI-TTP for biometric, paperless travel are just a few of the recent improvements at CSMIA.
Additionally, CSMIA was the third airport globally and the first in India to be accredited by Airports Council International (ACI) at Level 5 Airport Customer Experience. It was recognized for the eighth consecutive year in the category of Best Airport Over 40 Million Passengers in Asia-Pacific in March.
