NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has denied all requests put forward by students and doctors to extend the date of NEET-PG examination. The minister on Friday declared that exam will take place as it was scheduled on 5th March. 

Dr Mansukh further informed that, the ministry has postponed the cut-off date for all the MBBS students who have not completed their internship. The minister said this as a reply to a question asked to him in the Lok Sabha. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi raised the question in Lok Sabha as on how the minister thought about the demand for extension of the NEET-PG 2023. 

According to Dr Mansukh, the students were informed about the examination five months back and the aspirants are already preparing for it. He further asserted that, the date must be fixed and the exam shall take place on the decided date. The minister mentioned that the first step that is the entrance exam shall take place on time. 

The ministry has postponed the cut-off date from 30 June to 11th of August, so that the aspirants can cover their internship. Notably, NEET PG aspirants along with doctors association carried out campaigns with the help of social media and protested at Jantar Mantar to fulfil their demands. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) also requested the health minister to extend the date of exam. 

Dr Rohan Krishnan, the Chairman of FAIMA Doctors Association is of the view that, Dr Mansukh should have taken the demands of the students into consideration. The ministry stated that, over 13,000 MBBS students in five Union Territories and states who are not suitable for the exam due to delayed internship, it has been concluded to postpone the last date of internship for eligibility to 11th August.
