New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate issued 4th summon to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi has received his fourth summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding a case related to alcohol policy. On January 18th, he has been instructed by the central investigation agency to participate in an interrogation session. Despite this order, it is anticipated that Kejriwal will be occupied with election preparations while present at Goa between January 18 and 20.

Kejriwal had previously deemed the summons as being driven by "vexatious considerations" and filed them under a category of "motivated." He also expressed doubts regarding his summon's intention, questioning if he was called upon as either a witness or suspect in conjunction with the excise policy case.

The non-appearance of the Chief Minister before ED was attributed to several factors, such as the on-going Rajya Sabha elections in Delhi which are set for completion by January 19. Kejriwal conveyed his reasons through a letter directed towards the ED Assistant Director, highlighting his duties as both national convener of Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister of Delhi; especially with respect to organizing Republic Day celebrations.

Kejriwal has now challenged the summons for the third time via written communications, citing important legal objections and crucial dimensions pertaining to ED's actions. He expressed apprehension over his earlier letters being ignored and queried their approach towards the matter.

Amidst the ongoing developments, Delhi's Chief Minister Office reiterates its dedication towards governance and serving the public. Kejriwal not being present during ED questioning is concurrent with his busy schedule of overseeing preparations for upcoming Goa polls which adds another layer to an already complex political and legal situation. This apparent conflict between fulfilling legal obligations whilst performing one's political duties highlights further complications faced by a Chief Minister during such trying times

The ED's persistent summoning of Kejriwal has raised eyebrows, with the Chief Minister maintaining that the summons appear to be politically motivated. The excise policy case continues to be a focal point, and as legal developments unfold, Kejriwal remains entangled in a complex web of political and legal challenges.
