NFR Introduces New Train Services for Maha Kumbh Mela Devotees

Two pairs of special trains will run between Jogbani and Tundla. Additionally, a one-way special train will operate from Rangapara North to Tundla, catering to passengers from Assam.

PRAYAGRAJ: To manage the expected rush of pilgrims for the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced special trains.

Two pairs of special trains will run between Jogbani and Tundla, improving connectivity for travelers. Additionally, a one-way special train will operate from Rangapara North to Tundla, catering to passengers from Assam.

The special one-way train (05841), will depart from Rangapara North at 5:30 PM on February 15th and reach Tundla by 6:30 AM on February 17th. Each train will be equipped with 22 coaches, including AC-2 tier, AC-3 tier, Sleeper Class, and General Sitting coaches, ensuring a comfortable journey for passengers.

These special trains aim to ease the travel experience for devotees heading to the Maha Kumbh Mela and help them return smoothly to their homes after the event.

Meanwhile, two tragic accidents have claimed lives of people returning from the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The first incident occurred when Anand Jyoti Mahanta, a resident of Garchuk, Guwahati, died in a road accident in Patna.

Mahanta was traveling with seven others when their vehicle crashed. While Mahanta died on the spot, the other seven passengers were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. The group had just completed their pilgrimage at the Kumbh Mela and was on their way back to Guwahati.

In a separate incident, three members of a family lost their lives in a road accident on NH-19 near Muthani, Kaimur district. The family was returning to Aurangabad after taking a holy dip at the Kumbh Mela. A three-wheeler carrying the family collided with a stationary truck.

The deceased were identified as Raj Kumar Singh (40), Deepak Kumar (22), and Anju Singh (55). Two other family members, Kanjan Devi and her daughter Anjani Kumar, were seriously injured and transferred to Varanasi for further treatment. These accidents highlight the dangers faced by pilgrims traveling back after the religious event.
