
NEW DELHI: In a coordinated series of searches on Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency raided 19 locations across Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat in an operation related to the investigation of radicalization of individuals affiliated with the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
The case involves the spread of terrorist propaganda and attempts to recruit members for terrorist activities. Officials said that the operation would dismantle networks for such agendas while gathering crucial evidence to strengthen the probe.
Searches were carried out in several places across Assam as part of the statewide crackdown that takes a critical step against radicalized groups and organizations operating across several states.
These are part of the intensified strategies in tackling threats that terror outfits make in spreading extremist ideologies as followed through in the strategies adopted by NIA. The agency has been active in identifying those that attempt to disrupt the country's security framework.
Details regarding the recovered evidence and detained individuals have not been disclosed as the investigation continues. Sources stated that the NIA is carefully studying the findings to track back the functional origins of radicalization.
This operation underlines the efforts of the agency to implement counter-terrorism measures against groups such as JeM, which have been responsible for extremist activities and violence. There are likely to be updates as the authorities evaluate the results of the raids.
