NOIDA: On New Year’s Eve, partygoers in Noida can enjoy their celebrations without the concern of driving under the influence of alcohol as the city police have made arrangements to ensure their safe journey home.

The police will provide hired cabs for intoxicated individuals, with officers stationed at help desks in various malls, pubs, and restaurants to prevent inebriated people from driving.

In a collaboration with local bar and restaurant owners, the Noida police have set up a plan to offer cab and auto services to those heavily intoxicated. Extensive security measures, including drone surveillance, will be in place to guarantee a safe and enjoyable night for everyone.

This initiative aims to reduce public disturbances and help those who are intoxicated return home safely. Similar services were also offered last year, with plainclothes officers deployed in select locations.

To facilitate the consumption of alcohol responsibly, the district’s liquor shops in Noida and Greater Noida will remain open for an extra hour, from 10 AM to 11 PM, on New Year’s Eve. Additionally, those hosting parties and serving alcohol must acquire temporary bar licenses.

The Excise Department is issuing single-day licenses for Rs 1,100, with the process available online to ensure legal and safe alcohol consumption.

These proactive measures by Noida police aim to enhance public safety, allowing people to celebrate the New Year responsibly while minimizing the risk of drunk driving.
