On June 20th, Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra defeated Julian Weber of Germany to win the men's javelin throw event at the Paris Diamond League 2025.

Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic winner, won the title with his first throw of the evening at the Stade Sébastien Charléty, a best performance of 88.16 meters. Weber, who was also his opening act, came in second with 87.88 meters.

Third place went to Luiz Maurício da Silva of Brazil, who set a new South American record of 86.62 meters. Grenada's Anderson Peters, a former world champion and bronze medallist at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, finished fifth with a distance of 80.29 meters.
The London 2012 Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago finished fourth with 81.66 meters.
It is the first time this season that Neeraj has defeated Weber.

In their first encounter of the year, which took place in the Doha Diamond League last month, Weber hit Neeraj with his penultimate throw of the evening, a personal best of 91.06 meters.
In Doha, the Indian javelin thrower had previously broken the elusive 90-meter mark with a throw of 90.23 meters, setting a new national record.
Additionally, Weber won the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial athletics meet in Poland last month, surpassing Neeraj in the process.
Weber did not compete at the April Potch Invitational Meet, which was won by Neeraj Chopra in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Neeraj Chopra, the current world champion in javelin throw, arrived at the Paris Diamond League with a goal in mind, logging a clean 88.16m with his first attempt of the evening.
After throwing 85.10 meters on his second try, the 27-year-old fouled his next three attempts before completing with an 82.89-meter throw.
The Diamond League 2025 season consists of 15 encounters, with the Paris leg being the eighth. The season will end in August with a two-day final in Zurich, Switzerland.
After eight long years, Neeraj Chopra was back in the Paris Diamond League. His best throw in 2017 was 84.67 meters, and he placed eighth.
