Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (November 25) attended the centennial Foundation Day at the University of Lucknow.

PM Modi attended the event at 05.30 pm via a video conference and also released a commemorative coin and a postal stamp to mark the university's centennial Foundation Day.

Speaking at the occasion, PM Modi said, the goal of the new Education Policy, announced earlier by the Indian Government is to develop the qualities of self-confidence and introspection. He urged the youths to develop the same.

"The aim of the new National Education Policy is that the youth of the country gets to know itself. And self-confidence comes when there is flexibility and freedom to take one's own decision. A mind and body which are in chains can never be productive," he said.

The Prime Minister urged the professors and the students at the university to thoroughly discuss the New Economic Policy (NEP) as well as work on its timely execution.

"By the time the country completes 75 years of Independence, the NEP will become a part of our education policy in letter and spirit," he said.

Arguing about one's achieving potential he gave the example of the Rae Bareli railway coach factory. "For a long time, the problem has been that we have not utilized our potential (Samarth) to the fullest." He said.

PM Modi claimed that "Years ago, investments were made there, resources engaged, machines installed, and big announcements made that rail coaches will be made there. But for years, only denting and the painting was done there. The factory which could build rail coaches did not work to its full capacity."

He said, after 2014, we changed our thought process, and as a result within a few months, the first rail coach rolled out from here. And today, hundreds of coaches are rolling out every year.

"The example of how potential is used in the right manner is next to you, and today the world is seeing this. UP will feel proud of the fact that after some time, if there is any discussion on the biggest rail coach factory in the world, then it will be of Rae Bareli rail coach factory," he said.

PM Modi said "positivity in thought" and "possibility in approach" must be kept alive.

Later, to mark the university's centennial foundation day, the prime minister released a commemorative coin and a postal stamp.

The event was also attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.
