PRAYAGRAJ: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, wherein he took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam, the meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Holding 'rudraksha' beads and chanting mantras, the prime minister offered prayers while standing in the river. His visit aligned with the Ashtami Tithi during the spiritually significant 'Magh' month for Hindu devotees.
PM Modi arrived in Prayagraj at 10:05 AM and went to the DPS Helipad. From there, he traveled to Arail Ghat, reaching at 10:45 AM. He then took a boat to the Maha Kumbh site, where he spent an hour performing a ritual bath and praying to the Ganga. After that, he returned to Prayagraj Airport and is scheduled to leave the city at 12:30 PM on an Indian Air Force aircraft.
The Mahakumbh began on Paush Purnima (January 13) and is the world's largest spiritual and cultural event, drawing devotees from around the world. It will last until Mahashivratri on February 26.
The visit has sparked excitement among devotees at the Maha Kumbh. Many believe that PM Modi's efforts have enhanced the recognition of Sanatan Dharma, bolstering people's faith and spiritual awareness.
This is Modi's second visit to Prayagraj in recent months. On his visit on December 13, he inaugurated 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore to improve connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
