Police Commemoration Day 2021: Date,Wishes, History and Importance of the Day

Police Commemoration Day in India is observed on the day of October 21 each year. It is celebrated to offer respect and gratitude to those fighters in the police who died in saving the nation. On this day the nation pays tributes in various areas of the country to all those martyrs who lost their lives being on their duty. In the year 2018 on this day of the National Police Commemoration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the inauguration of the first-ever National Museum of the police.

IMPORTANCE OF THE POLICE COMMEMORATION DAY

Through this National Police Commemoration Day, the people of the country salutes the departed soul of the police department along with their families. The day salutes the bravery of the brave martyrs who took over their steps to save the country without thinking of their own lives. The day is celebrated to bring motivation through all those police personnel who did their duties wholeheartedly with extreme diligence.

HISTORY OF THE POLICE COMMEMORATION DAY:

The day of Police Commemoration is observed since the tragic incident that happened in Ladakh in the year 1959 in the Indo-China border. On 21 October 1959 in Ladakh, twenty policemen from India faced a sudden attack from Chinese troops while guarding as a result of which ten policemen died on the spot and seven of the policeman were imprisoned. But later on 28 November 1959, the Chinese forces after a month passes handed over the bodies of all the police officers who died in the attack. Since then Police Commemoration Day is observed each year in India on 21 October in honour and remembrance of the police officers.
