Punjab Head Constable Suspended for Stealing Eggs from a Cart in Chandigarh, Video Goes Viral on Social Media

Chandigarh: Pritpal Singh, a Punjab head constable has been suspended after he was caught on camera, stealing eggs from a cart on a busy road in the state's Fatehgarh Sahib town, around 40 kilometres from Chandigarh. The video has gone viral on social media.

Singh was posted in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib Police Station. The issue came to the light after Singh's video got viral.

In the video, Singh could be seen slowly picking the eggs from the cart and keeping them inside the pocket of his police uniform and then he left the place pretending nothing happened once the cart owner returned.

As per the sources, the video clip, apparently recorded on a mobile phone, further showed that the policeman quickly tried to cross the road as the owner approached the cart. He then signalled an auto-rickshaw to stop and made off with the eggs.

Due to this unacceptable incident, he has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him.

Punjab Police tweeted, "A video went viral wherein HC Pritpal Singh from @FatehgarhsahibP is caught by a camera for stealing eggs from a cart while the rehdi-owner is away and putting them in his uniform pants. He is suspended & Departmental Enquiry is opened against him."

While some are making fun of him over the stealing, there were some people who advised the department to look at the cause of such an embarrassing incident.
